Myths About Staffing Companies Debunked
Just like any other industry, recruiting has had it's fair share of preconceived notions about it. As longtime recruiters, Crossroads strives to bust all the myths by progressing, helping, and working hard. Trust us, the industry is filled with good guys. Here are a few common myths about recruiting, debunked:
Myth: Using A Staffing Company Is Too Expensive
We understand where you're coming from. It can be tough to find the budget for hiring solutions. In some cases, however, it's more cost effective to utilize a staffing agency. Many hiring processes can take longer than ideal, creating a lack of productivity in your workplace. Also, bad hires are costly to the company as well, especially if they cause negative changes to your workplace dynamics. A staffing company can take care of the hiring process in a more efficient manner. They'll give you the opportunity to hire on a temporary basis – with the potential for replacement if need be.
Myth: Staffing Companies Don't Create Permanent Opportunities
Many people – clients and candidates alike - believe that all staffing companies are only for temporary employment. While they excel in temporary positions, many companies produce permanent hires quite frequently. According to CareerBuilder, roughly 3 out of 10 people were offered a permanent position after their temporary term. This is also considering it is up to the candidate as to whether or not they want to stay with a client company.
Myth: Staffing Agencies Are Responsible For Candidate Career Growth
While recruiters will certainly work hard to find the best jobs for a candidate, they aren't career counselors. They'll gladly review and revise a resume, but they don't have the authority to give out career advice. Instead, many will point candidates to career development resources, while providing tips for succeeding in a current job placement. Otherwise, it's up to the candidate to form their own career development path. Rest assured though - recruiters will be ready to find their perfect job once they're ready!
Myth: Candidates Have To Pay To Use Staffing Companies
This is a common misconception. Candidates do not have to pay a fee to apply to recruitment firm job openings. In fact, client companies pay a recruitment fee once a new hire is found. The candidate's responsibility? Try their best at their new job, and assess job fit.
