Job Description The Chief Human Resources Officer CHRO provides strategic leadership in all areas of human capital management, ensuring HR strategies are aligned with the nonprofits mission and operational goals. This role oversees recruitment, retention, compliance, workforce planning, benefits design and administration, process automation, and staff development, with a strong focus on management development, training, retention, and succession planning. The CHRO helps foster a positive working environment and organizational culture, promoting employee engagement and collaboration. The CHRO reports to the Executive Director and ensures clear separation of duties and robust audit practices to maintain integrity, compliance, and transparency across the organization. This position participates as a member of the agencys Officer Team and contributes to strategic oversight for over 200+ employees. Lead HR strategic planning initiatives in alignment with agency-wide goals. Oversee all HR functions management support, compliance, employee relations, benefits, safety, and systems. Collaborate with Officer Team, Executive Team, and Leadership Team, to manage the HR budget with established guidelines, focusing on the strategic alignment of personnel related expenses. Design and maintain HR audit procedures and enforce separation of duties across roles. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and organizational policies. Design and evaluate comprehensive employee benefits plans, including billing reconciliation and cost-effectiveness. Lead implementation and integration of HR system automation, including digital workflows, HRIS, and dashboards e.g., Power BI. Implement system enhancements or replacements to improve operational efficiency and support data driven decision making. Skills Required BA Degree in HR, Business Admin or similar. 10+ yrs of progressive HR leadership exp. 5+ yrs in a senior role. Exp managing automated systems, HR tech platforms and reporting tools. | |
Skills Preferred Masters Degree. SHRM-SCP, SPHR or equivalent certification. Exp in a nonprofit environment. Exp with federal, state and county compliance. Background in audit practices, compliance systems, and benefit design. |
